I am a Software Developer

About Me
Born in Germany in July 1997, I was always interested in technology. From my first console, the N64, to my first computer I always fancied technical devices. In the later years of my childhood I decided to focus on working in the field of Software Development and started attending the Informatikmittelschule Frauenfeld (IMS), where I was trained to become a Software Developer.
The last year (of the four required) was spent as an apprentice at the ERP and CMS Provider Tocco AG. After getting the Swiss Certificate of Competence (EFZ) I continued working there until setting my sights on deepening my understanding of the world of Computer Science and wishing to start University. Not being able to work part time lead to me looking for another place to bring in my expertise.
I found this place at Wizard Smart Solutions AG (WSS). A Start-Up Company located in Effretikon, where we developed a CMS and Management System for Digital Signage Devices. Working at Wizard enabled me to attend the ZHAW part time and I was able to fullfil my wish of furthering my insights in the fields of Software Development and other aspects of Technology. My love for working with microprocessors and embedded systems was discovered there as well. I hope to be able to focus more on this field in the future.
My Bachelor's thesis will focus on a novel way to distinguish different speakers in conversations using AI. This project is in cooperation with the Centre for Artificial Intelligence from ZHAW. Hopefully I will soon be able to point to a released and referenced research paper.
Hobbies
My free time is spend hanging out with friends - often times playing "Dungeons and Dragons" or "Magic - the Gathering". I also like to 3D-print miniatures for this and paint them. When I don't spend time with my human friends I cuddle with my feline one. My cat "Keskli" is the sweetest and cutest cat someone could ever wish for.
Tocco AG
At Tocco AG we developed an ERP and CMS Solution for customers of different business sectors. There I got accustomed to Java and developed extensions to the existing system based on customer specifications and requirements. Whenever possible I tried to standardize these specifications together with Project Managers and the Product Owner. I often helped clearing up technical questions in these meetings and wrote specifications for our team to implement. Specifically the team I was part of focused on the educational sector providing our customers functionalities such as generation tools for school reports and exams, room and lecture management, as well as management tools for teachers and students.
Wizard Smart Solutions AG
At Wizard Smart Solutions AG we developed Software to manage Digital Signage Devices. From municipalities, universities, and industries to digital out-of-home advertisers we provided hardware and software solutions. First working alone I started with modernizing the existing code base left by my predecessor. While delivering support for the existing customer base, their applications and the implementation of new features for them - I pushed for restructuring and rebuilding the existing solution to provide a better and more functional experience for our customer and a more sustainable and modular one for us. After being joined by another developer we were able to create a concept for a new solution. This solution soon became the Management Tools for dozens of customers to present information in an interactive manner to onlookers. Ensuring backwards compatibility the CMS was developed using the Typescript Framework Angular in combination with Node which was already in use for some of the newer applications. Still many older customers required and received an update. The application running on the signage devices themselves is an electron-based Angular Application, supported by a C# Application to manage the device itself. The database used was also changed from MongoDB to MariaDB in this overhaul.
One of the customer projects I implemented is publicly accessible and can be found at the Science Pavilion at Campus Irchel of the University of Zurich. There people can learn more about the world of physics as well as compete in a quiz.
